Benjamin Raspail was a flautist of the Baltimore Philharmonic Orchestra. He was a patient and victim of Dr. Hannibal Lecter.

Benjamin Raspail was considered an untalented musician in the orchestra. He became a patient of Hannibal Lecter in 1975, diagnosed as manic depressive. Whilst in therapy, Raspail divulged details of a former lover, Jame Gumb, who had murdered Raspail's last partner, Klaus. Gumb had previously murdered his own grandparents at age 12. Gumb became jealous of Raspail and Klaus, and lured Klaus away and beheaded him, creating an apron out of his skin. Raspail stored Klaus's head in his garage.

On 22 March 1975, Raspail was declared missing. On 25 March, he was found in a church pew, with his heart pierced and his thymus and pancreas removed. The police speculated that he was the ninth victim of a serial killer dubbed The Chesapeake Ripper.

Several days later, Dr. Lecter was unmasked as The Ripper. At his trial, it was revealed that Raspail's missing organs were served to the other members of the orchestra.
